Hello to Ohio and Las Vegas. Oh, that's wonderful. Pennsylvania, New York. Glad you're here. Rocky Coast Of Maine. Love it. Alright. Fantastic. Well, we're gonna go ahead and dive in and get started. And today, we're gonna be supercharging your foundational literacy instruction with Lalilo. We're gonna have three parts of our chat today. The first part is just gonna be meet Lolilo. Find out what it's all about, get all of the features, and how it supports that effective practice for our students. We're going to, of course, have a little of Lolilo student experience because I love getting to play with what my students are going to see. I need to know what it's gonna look like for them. And then, of course, we're gonna wrap up with a teacher experience because I wanna know all the goodies I'm gonna get as well. So those are the three parts of our chat today, and I am your host. My name is Kristen Parker. I am a primary educator. I've taught kinder first and second grade, and I am just loving all of the moves into literacy and foundational skills and systematic phonics instruction. And that's what you're gonna find here inside of Lolilo. Alright. I'm tossing a poll up on that Nearpod, and I want you to take a moment and read through the statements that are here. And I want you to check or highlight the statements that resonate with you because I know that I have said some of these things before in my own practice. So take a moment, read through what what resonates with you. Once you've selected the ones you feel like apply to what happens in your classroom, hit that blue submit button down in that bottom right hand corner because that's what lets me see your responses. Oh, we already have some thoughts coming through. Fantastic. If you are just joining in and you are wondering where do I go to participate? Over in that chat, we do have a link pinned for you up at the top to today's interactive Nearpod lesson. If you go ahead and give that a click, it will pop right up for you. All you have to do is type in your name, and it will connect you with today's interactive lesson so that you get to participate too. We've got lots of goodies on there, so please make sure that you do that. Alright. Fantastic. It looks like those responses are starting to slow down. So I'm gonna share out exactly what you shared with me, and you can keep providing responses if you'd like. You notice that the response that you chose, the one that resonated with you, you're not alone. Right? None of us are alone. We're all feeling these things in the classroom. Right? Not enough variety of practice when it comes to those foundational skills. I need to know that it's happening correctly. Some of my students just aren't motivated, or we're feeling like we have to keep moving even though students have gaps, and I need to fill in those gaps to help them be successful. And this is where Lalilo is going to step in and help us get some relief to some of these stresses that we're facing in the classroom. So let's chat about it. We're gonna do a little little here. As we're going through, you're going to have questions. Absolutely. And we encourage you to ask those questions. So if you look on your screen, you are gonna have a section that says q and a. If you click on that q and a, k, you can drop questions right on there, and we have a team of folks in our backstage today who are here to answer those questions. So anything that you'd like to ask, drop it into that q r q and a. If you look at the top of your chat, it should be over there right next to where it says chat. There should be a q r a q and a. Excuse me. And somebody will be here to answer that question. Okay? So please, please ask away. Like I said, there's a whole team back there. They're just waiting for questions to come in. That being said, let's get down to the basics of it and understand the features of Lolilo and how it supports that effective practice for our youngest learners. So what is Lolilo? What am I getting myself into here? It is that practice tool that is really focused on building those foundational literacy skills for our youngest learners who are just learning to read. It is going to be that systematic, sequential scope and sequence for the kids. We're gonna walk them straight through. It is differentiated. So all of my students are working in different spaces. I have yet to teach in a classroom where everybody needs the exact same skill. Right? Wouldn't that be kind of a dream? No. Our kids are all over the place, and we want to make sure that they're getting exactly what they need, and they're gonna find that inside of Lolita. And there's lots of feedback for us. There is data, and it is going to get real specific and tell us this student needs this skill, and here are some other kids who could benefit from that skill too. So it's taking a lot of that guesswork out for on our side of things and allowing us to pull together students who need the same skills in order to move them forward and accelerate that learning and build readers. Because that's what we wanna do. Right? We wanna build readers. And, of course, it has a focus on foundational literacy. It is that systematic, explicit literacy, phonics instruction that our students need to be successful readers. So we have our five pillars. Right? Everybody's familiar with those five pillars. We've got phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocab, and comprehension. And you're gonna see them resonated over in LILLO. So check out the components of Lilo over there on the right hand side. We are explicitly hitting that phonics and that phonemic awareness. We're hitting those word families and those sight words so that we're building fluency in our students. There's gonna be not only independent reading, but also listening comprehension. Again, addressing those pillars exactly. And, of course, grammar and conventions, because we want our students to respect to those as well. So I know you're thinking, Kristen, okay. Sounds great. How does it work? Lalilo begins with a placement assessment. Now if you are a STAR district and your students take the STAR early literacy assessment, fantastic. What's gonna happen is we're gonna use that assessment to place them inside of the Lolillo getting started assessment. If you are not a STAR district and you're like, Kristen, what is STAR? Don't worry about it. As soon as your students log in to Lolillo, they're going to get a pretest. K? That pretest is going to ensure that just right placement. Once that pretest has happened and we know where they need to work, practice is going to begin for them. Again, differentiated. They're gonna be in lots of different places, and that's okay. Our reports are gonna help you keep track of that as teachers. So that's where that insights piece comes in. And like I said before, it's gonna tell you specifically, this is a skill that this student is stuck on, and here's some other kids who are stuck on the same skill. I can very quickly pull group together. I can do, and I can be very flexible with that as well. And, of course, we're not gonna have any fun without some rewards down there on the bottom. We're gonna get to check those out, here in just a moment. So with that in mind, I want you to take a moment, and I want you to find that statement in the poll that resonated with you before. And with that statement in mind, I want you to check out the piece of the LELO that is going to help address that concern. So take just a moment here. Alright. I know we've just gotten your toes wet, and we have so much more to show you over this camp session. But we'd like to take a little pause and hear from you. Based on what we've chatted about so far, what are you excited about? What's sounding good? What do you think is gonna support your students? What's gonna be useful for you? In order to share with us, you're gonna share your thought down here at the bottom, And then over to the right, you're gonna click on that, kinda looks like a paper airplane, and it's gonna send it right on over to our board. So we'd love to hear from you. What are you excited about? What is resonating? How do you think, Lolilo's going to support things going on in your classroom? Let us know. Alright. If you're adding, please continue adding. I just wanna call out a couple of folks on here who have call who have said that you're working older students who are struggling with reading. They need help with reading. You wanna find something to work with them. I'm so glad that you're here because Lolilo is going to give them that systematic phonics instruction, that systematic phonemic awareness instruction that they need to be those consistent readers. Right? Those fluent readers that we wanna build who love reading. Alright. If you're adding your thought, I'm gonna leave it up for about ten more seconds. Oh, fantastic. Yay. I love all the excitement. Okay. Alright. So we know what Lolilo covers. So we got an overview of the content that students are going to see in Lolilo. We know that it is going to address those pillars. Let's take a peek at what it's actually going to look like for students. What is what are my students going to experience when they're hanging out inside of Lolilo working on those skills? First thing kids are going to need to do, right, is log in. And we have lots of different login options. We have a school code that you can utilize, and it will be there on your teacher dashboard once you get set up and running. Students can log in that way. We also have home codes where each student gets their individual code to log in. I like using this one even at school because all they do is type in the code and it goes right to their login. There's no extra steps, especially for real little people who can get lost with extra steps. So please know that even though it says home code, you don't have to be at home in order to use it. Another easy way to log in, especially for our little people, QR codes. Right? And if you are somebody who is already utilizing STAR, Lolilo is something that can be on your student's Renaissance homepage. So just like they log in to take their STAR assessment, they're gonna log in and click on their Lolilo tile. So lots of different ways for our students to log in to accommodate what works best for them and you in the classroom. Alright. So I have a little Lolillo student experience set up for us. When I flip over to the next slide, you're going to see, kind of an arrow. Just click on it and follow the directions from there. When you click on it, that student experience is going to pop up in a new tab, and it's going to give you three sample questions of what a student may see as they're working. Alright. So here it comes. It should say click here to open web page. Go ahead and click on that big blue button. It'll open up on your next tab, and then you can try out a couple questions. Should be about three. Alright. I'm gonna leave this open for about thirty more seconds. Alright. And this was just a little taste. There are all types of questions for our students. They might be filling in the blank. They might be finding, a vocabulary word that fills in the sentence. They might be, finding a beginning sound or a final sound or a blend going in there. They're also going to see passages where they're independently reading that passage. And if you want, doesn't have to, but if you want, Lolilo will record them reading those passages so that you can listen to that, and you have this nice record of them verbally developing as a fluent reader over the course of their time in Lolilo. Now there's also all kinds of fun reward things going on for them. And here are just a few of them. So they have worlds. So as students work on LOLilo exercises, they move a they move across worlds in their map. So I'm gonna show you what that looks like. Let me just pull this guy across right here. So my student is working in the Savannah world and some of the ones they've already mastered here. Fun times. And you'll notice this pathway has lots of little stars on it. So as my students are completing their work inside of Lalilo, they are earning stars on their pathway. When they have earned 10 stars on their pathway, they are gonna find a brand new world. Alright. In addition to our worlds, because we are explorers inside of Lolilo. Okay? Reading opens up this entire world for us to explore, and that's what's gonna happen in Lolilo. So as we're going through, we've got to take some treasures with us. So I'm gonna open my treasures up right here, and you can see oh, I just earned another one. Look at me. You could see they go along with that explorer theme. They go along with the world that the student is currently exploring, and they earn these treasures as they're making progress with their skills. Alright. They also earn badges because who doesn't want a badge to go along with it? And those badges are related to the lessons that they master. So it's I'm mastering skills. I'm earning those badges, and you can check it out. They are linked right to that skill. I'm gonna be able to see I worked on the at family. I have mastered it right here. This is my badge. Take a peek. And there's also stories. Students earn stories for every three badges. So every time I get three badges, I get a story to go along with it. We want to reward our students, but we still wanna keep that eye on literacy. Right? So they're gonna get those stories, and it's a reward. They can come in here. They can sorry. They could read that story. They can have that story read to them. We are celebrating their accomplishments, but again still keeping that eye on literacy. Okay? So lots of fun things in here for the students. Let me close this out and slide it right back over. Alright. So we'd love to hear from you with that little bit of a peek into the student's world and getting to check out, some of the rewards and kind of motivational pieces that are there for him. We'd love are there for them. My apologies. We'd love to hear from you. What did you notice about the student experience, and what do you think they're gonna enjoy? Drop right onto that Nearpod. You're gonna share your thought again down in that box at the bottom. This one's a little bit trickier, though, because it does have the two columns. So if you look just before that blue button, there's a little drop down, and you can choose which column you would like your response to go into, and then hit that blue arrow. So I'm gonna give you a moment to go ahead and post those reflections or those thoughts. Alright. I love some of the thoughts that are coming in. I'm gonna call out a few of them. K? That immediate feedback. If I get something incorrect, I'm gonna know right away. I'm gonna get that redirection. I'm gonna get that additional opportunity to try that skill out again. It's right there for me. It's super easy to use. Right? Very kid friendly. I at home, I have my, well, at the time when she started using LiliLo, she was three. So, you know, our kindergartners are definitely gonna be able to do it at five and six because my three year old was absolutely able to manage it. She knew exactly what to do. Alright. I love that we're exploring a new world, getting badges, things that the kids are going to enjoy. There's even certificates. So every time a student comes into a new world, you're gonna see a, a message on your dashboard. There's a section for students who are, moving into a new world, and you can actually print out certificates for them. And we're gonna reward, and we're gonna honor that progress that's happening in the classroom. It's just fantastic. Right? We want them to be engaged, motivated readers. Alright. Excellent. Alright. Now that we've seen all the goodies on the kids' side, let's talk about what we get as teachers. Alright. And we're gonna do a teacher dashboard experience. And you're actually gonna get the opportunity to log in to kind of like a mock dashboard and click through the different components inside of Lolilo. And I'm gonna show you exactly how to do it. So when I turn to the next page, don't click yet. Okay? Let me, chat about where some of the pieces are, and then I'm gonna give you a little time to explore at your own pace. Alright? Alright. So not yet. But when I say so, here at the top of our screen on the left hand side, there is a gray box. What we're gonna do is we're gonna click on that gray box. Okay. And it's gonna pop up, and it's gonna say Lolilo teacher dashboard exploration for Camp Engage. And we're gonna hit start tutorial. And when we do that, I want to call out down here in the bottom right hand corner. This is where I'm going to see those directions. K? It's going to tell me all about the features. So I'm gonna look for the red box where it says click. The first place it's gonna take me on my teacher dashboard, that's exactly what this is, is my snapshot page. So when I click into snapshot, k, notice over here on the right hand side, it's giving me a little synopsis of what I'm seeing. In the snapshot page at the top, you'll see the current assignment if you have any, and you're gonna select the box to continue. Awesome. I'm gonna click on that box. K? And I'm gonna read that next section, and I'm gonna keep going right along. And this is going to walk you through all of the tabs that are available on that teacher dashboard. K? Now I'm gonna give you a good chunk of time to do this. So if you are ready, I encourage you to go ahead and do the self exploration of that teacher dashboard. Altogether now, we're headed up to the top of our Nearpod page. We're clicking on that gray box, and we're gonna hit that start tutorial. And if you get stuck or you're not sure, drop in chat, drop in that q and a. We are here to help and guide you. Alright. I see some of us are starting to wrap up. And if that doesn't include you, that's okay. You take your time. But if you are wrapping up, we would love to hear your wows and your wonders over on the Nearpod. We'd like to hear what you're excited about, and also great questions and things that we can answer for you. You're always welcome to drop into q and a as well. Alright. I'm loving the excitement on the teacher dashboard, chat page. One of the comments just says everything. I think that's wonderful. Alright. If you have, finished up that tutorial, excellent. We're taking a moment here to put those whiles and wonders into that, Nearpod. Do make sure that you hit that little paper airplane at the bottom so that I get to see your responses. Okay. Perfect. And I'm gonna start tackling some of these things on here. April is asking how hard is it for kindergarteners to navigate? As I said before, I started my three year old when she was three, I started her on Lolilo, and she was able to just click, click, click. She was able to just go. So it is super user friendly for the little ones, because there's not really a lot there's not a lot of spaces for them to get lost in. Right? They log on to their dashboard. Let's pull this over here. We pull that over here as an example. They log on to their dashboard, and you're gonna notice that Lalilo takes over my whole screen. So I'm not gonna get lost anywhere. Lalilo just fills everything up, and then all I do is I hit the big pulsing arrow, and the Lilo just moves me forward. Okay. So not a lot of places for them to kinda get distracted or lost inside of that platform. It's great. I also really love that, China is over here finding all of the goodies. They found, teacher led principal activities absolutely are available for you inside of Nearpod. You have enough to do. Okay? So when Lilo says, hey. This student or this group of students, because if somebody else commented, it will group your students for you, Needs to work on this skill. We are not just gonna put you out there in the dark saying, uh-huh. Here's the skill. Go forth. We're also going to give you some resources to go along with that skill. So there are direct instruction. There are even Nearpods that you can do with your students. You can do those whole group. You can do those small group. Nearpod's a whole other chat. I know there are other camps happening surrounding Nearpod. So if that's something you're interested in, that might be something to check out, but that is built in, to the Lulilo platform to give you those resources. Right? Not just leave you in the dark. Alright. Andrew, I'm with you. There is a lot to unpack here because there is a lot of goodies hanging out at Lolilo. Alright. So let's, let's let's chat a little bit about k. So how how do we get our kids on it? Right? What's what's going on here? So if your school or your district is moving forward with a school wide or district wide implementation, we're getting the Lilo. Yay. Yes. Okay. You are going to follow their directions for accessing Lovilo. Typically, that's going to be in the same place that they take the STAR assessment, and you will have access to the complete account that you toured today. Okay? Everything you saw today, you are getting it. If your school or district has not purchased Lolilo and you are just trying it out in your classroom, that is fantastic. You are going to go to the Lolilo webpage, Legit. Just Lolilo. Okay? And you can sign up for a free teacher account. So what on earth does a free teacher account get me? K. It is going to get your students full access. K? Your student on the student side, they are going to get the pretest. They're gonna get the lessons. They're gonna get the rewards and the treasures and the stories. They get all the goodies. The block is on our side as teachers. We don't get the same amount of data as we do on that complete account. Okay? So just be aware of that. So for my folks that are like, how can I access this for my middle school kid that needs the support? Create that free teacher account, and let them work in Lolilo. Because like I said, the students are gonna be able to access everything that they need to access to be successful inside of Lolilo. Okay? Yes. Free. We like that word. Oh, fantastic. We've got some folks who are already Lolilo lovers. Wonderful. Alright. Perfect. Now that being said, there are lots of different ways to implement Lolilo in your classrooms. Lalilo is great for literacy center rotation. Hey. You come to the teacher table. I do my direct instruction, and then you're moving on to Lalilo. Fantastic. It's a warm up as soon as you walk in the room. Maybe we're going to do Lolillo for choice time. Right? It's part of our playlist. Or I wanna use this as assignments to support what's happening in my classroom. Take a moment, check out those ideas, add others. I didn't go over all of them. Add others if you've got additional ideas. There's a highlighting tool at the bottom of that screen, or the pen is totally fine too. You can choose your most fantastic color. I'm gonna choose purple because. You are welcome to highlight. Let us know how you see yourself utilizing this in the classroom or outside of the classroom. Alright. I noticed some of you are adding to those additional ideas. I promise. Look, if you wanna write with the mouse, go for it. I love it coming through. But at the bottom, there's also a text option. You could click on the t, and you can just type. Okay? So up to you. If you're you're dedicated to writing with that mouse, go for it. I love it. I'm here for it. Alright. When you're set, make sure you hit that submit button so I can see what everybody's thinking. Alright. I I love all of the, small groups underlined, highlighted. I love that, we are exploring those Lolillo tools. I'm seeing pictures on here. I'm seeing folks that are using the shapes, different colors. You are preparing to use utilize those recommended Nearpods on that scope and sequence with your students in the classroom? I can tell. Alright. Extended learning. Love it. Adapting for older students. Right? A lot of times, we're talking about these foundational skills. You know, we really focus on that k two. But if I've got that third, fourth, or fifth grader, heck, if I've got that ninth, tenth, eleventh grader, and they still need this content, why aren't we sharing it with them? Let's do it. K. Let's build those readers. We're gonna meet them where they are, and we are going to accelerate them, move them forward utilizing this platform. Alright. I love it. Thank you for sharing. Alright. Fantastic. I'm gonna go ahead. I'm gonna move us over into the wrapping up section here because it is time, ladies, gentlemen, and everyone who is with us today to test your newfound slowly low knowledge. Are you ready? We're gonna show you one of those fun components here on Nearpod. Alright. This is called a time to climb. And what you're going to do oh, I apologize. I have to pick a adventure for us here. I'm gonna pick the jungle because in Lelilo, we are explorers. So we're gonna explore the jungle. What you're gonna do is you're gonna choose your character, anybody that you would like. There are the four you see, but you can also use that arrow to see it before. Alright. And once you choose your character, you're gonna hit join game. Alright. We're waiting on a few folks. I know. There are so many characters. It is really hard to choose. They as adults, we're as bad as the kids, but he just gotta I wanna see them all. Alright. I'm gonna give us about ten more seconds to choose those characters. Alright. I hope we're ready. So what's gonna happen is a question is going to pop up for you, and that question is going to have some answer choices. You're going to choose hopefully the correct answer, and the faster you choose the correct answer, the more points that you get. K? And, of course, at the end of the game, whoever has the most points is gonna reach the hut that you see up in our background at the very top there. Alright. Let's give it a whirl. All right, true or false teachers must assign the Lolillo introductory activity. No, remember you don't have to do anything. The Lilo's gonna work. They're gonna log on and go. Alright. What pillars? All of them. We'll give you all the pillars. Last one. So it's a little tricky. I'm squint in close. Alright. That read aloud activity, it's gonna be the microphone. Right? Look for that microphone. Alright. We have a winner, John, from Bunker Elementary School. Woot woot. But thank you everyone for playing. China coming in second place and Elizabeth in third. Congratulations to all of our players. Right? We're all winners when we find new platforms that work for our kids. Alright. Fantastic. I hope that brought a little extra fun to your, camp session today. Alright. So if you are somebody that was thinking, oh, I like Lolilo. This is my first time here, and I wanna sign up. Awesome. This slide is just for you. You can sign up for that Lolilo basic account. All you have to do is click on that link right there, and it's going to go ahead and go for you. If you are somebody who is signing up for Lolilo outside of your school, k, there is more information on specifically what is available to you when you sign up for the free account versus that complete account. Okay? Alright. Because we always like that word free. Alright. Fantastic. That does bring us to the end of our time together. I'm so sad to see the end of this Camp Engage session, but we have more sessions happening over the next couple of days, and we hope to see you in another chat soon. We're gonna hang out for the next about a couple of minutes here. So if you have more questions that you wanna drop drop into the q and a, please feel free to go ahead and do that. But other than that, we hope to see you on another session. Thank you so much. Have a great afternoon or night depending on where you are. Bye, everyone. That is launching. So if you see that and you'd like to give us a little bit of feedback on our chat today, we would certainly love to hear it. So take that opportunity, share in that survey.
